Abstract

935,738. Turbine and compressor rotors. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Feb. 5, 1960 [Feb. 12, 1959], No. 4988/59. Class 110 (3). A bladed rotor for an axial flow - fluid machine comprises a rigid assembly of successive tubular torquecarrying members 10, 17, 18, each of which has a tube wall of negligible thickness in relation to its diameter, and each having integral outwardly extending flange means 11, 24, 26 to which the blades 15, 25, 28 are directly attached. Some, at least of the central members may be butt-welded together as at 19 or they may be secured in axial alignment by bolts 21 passing through abutting flanges 13, 20. A further part 23 of the rotor may be bolted to the member 18 and the part 23 may be constructed according to the invention or of known construction. The members 10, 17 each have four axially spaced annular flanges, between which fit lugs 16 on the blades which are pivotally attached by pins 12, retained by circlips 33. The member 18 has one annular flange 26 upon a thickened portion 26a of which are four flanges 27 similar to the foregoing. The end flanges of the groups of flanges may be provided with axial extensions to form labyrinth seals 30 with the stationary structure.
