Abstract
935,440. Furniture joints. M. MYERS & SON Ltd. July 24, 1962 [Aug. 8, 1961], No. 28548/61. Class 52 (2). [Also in Group XXV] A device for attaching a leg 10 to an article of furniture 11 consists of a housing adapted to be attached to the furniture 11, the housing having a hole 7 through which a screw 9, extending from the leg, can be inserted, a nut 4 which has a limited axial movement within the housing but is prevented from rotation therein, and a resiliently compressible bush 6 interposed between the nut and that side of the housing which is to be presented to the leg. The housing is constituted by a metal box 1 having a hexagonal wall 2, and a plate-like cover 3 attached to a flange 2a of the box. The nut 4 has three equi-angularly spaced radially projecting limbs 5 which are adapted to be accommodated in three corners of the hexagonal box 1, so as to prevent relative rotation of the nut and the box. The limbs 5 are shaped to define spaces between the nut 4 and the housing into which the resiliently compressible bush 6 deforms when the nut and screw are tightened. The housing may be attached to the furniture as shown in Fig. 1 or it may be inverted, the positions of the nut 4 and bush 6 being interchanged and the screw 9 passing through a hole 8.
