Abstract

935,270. Engine stop gear. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Jan. 30, 1962 [Feb. 10, 1961; Aug. 3, 1961], Nos. 4989/61 and 28197/61. Class 122 (4). An emergency stop gear for a tractor with mechanism driven from a power take-off comprises a switch associated with the mechanism which, when closed, energizes a solenoid 5 to hold a manually-operable plunger 6 depressed, whereby a fuel cut-off valve operated by cable 15 is held open and can be closed to stop the engine by opening the switch. The plunger 6 is connected to a cap 7 having a bayonet slot connection 9, 10 with a casing 3 enabling the plunger to be depressed and turned angular to lock it in operative position when the take-off is not in use. The switch in the mechanism driven from the power take-off is connected to a plug 21 engaging a socket 20 which is connected by disconnectible leads 18, 19 to solenoid 5. When plug 21 is engaged, angular turning of the cap 7 is prevented and the plunger 6 can then only be held depressed by the solenoid 5, the circuit of which is closed by a contact 17 on the plunger engaging contact 16.
