Abstract

Indazolone derivatives of the general formula:- <FORM:0935205/IV(a)/1> in which R represents an alkyl radical having from 6-18 carbon atoms, X is a hydrogen, alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, or magnesium atom or an ammonium radical or an alkyl ammonium radical containing at least one alkyl radical with up to 4 carbon atoms, are prepared by reacting 6-amino indazolone with the mono-alkali metal salts of a -sulpho fatty acids using phosphorus trichloride in the presence of tertiary amines. As tertiary amine, pyridine may be used. The compounds are used as colour couplers.
