Abstract

934,753. Hinges; door counterbalancing devices. BLOXWICH LOCK & STAMPING CO. Ltd. March 28, 1961 [April 7, 1960], No. 12342/60. Classes 65 (1) and 65 (2). A hinge, particularly for the bonnet or boot lid of a vehicle, comprises two rigid arms 14, 17 pivotally mounted at spaced points 15, 18 on a fixed bracket 16 and extending in opposite directions from their pivots so as to cross, the outer end of the first arm being pivotally connected to the bonnet or the like at 34 and the outer end of the second arm being pivotally connected by a link 21 to a point on the bonnet spaced from the connection with the first arm. Preferably, the arm 14 and link 21 are connected to a bracket 10 secured to the bonnet. A counterbalancing spring 38 may be connected between the arm 17 and the bracket 10. The arm 17 carries a laterally extending peg 35 on which is mounted a roller working in a longitudinal slot 36 in the arm 14; in a modification the slot is arcuate. Alternatively, the arms may be interconnected by a link.
