Abstract

934,607. Drafting arrangements. JOH. JACOBS RIETER & CIE. A.G. Dec. 4, 1959 [Dec. 5, 1958], No. 41314/59. Class 120 (2). The lower half of a variable length drafting mechanism comprises a front roller 1 mounted in a stationary frame 3, a rear roller 4 mounted in a block 6 longitudinally adjustable of the frame and an apron 9 passing about roller 4, an apron rail 8 removably mounted in a slot 7 in the frame 3 and a tensioning roller 11. A further apron rail 12, identical to rail 8 is mounted to further support the apron in slots 13 formed in tongues 20 protruding from the block 6, the slots 13 being identical in shape to slot 7. The first stage in shortening the drafting field comprises moving support 6 towards roller 1 until rail 12 abuts rail 8; for further shortening, rail 12 is removed so that support 6 may be moved to the position shown in broken lines; to obtain the shortest field; rail 8 is removed, slots 7 and 13 are brought into lateral alignment (the tongues 20 fitting into complementary recesses 17 in the frame 3) and rail 8 is placed in the aligned slots.
