934,559. Age-hardened plated metal alloys. M. DREHER. Sept. 12, 1961, No. 32666/61. Class 41. Metal articles of a heat-hardenable alloy, e.g. of copper, are plated preferably with a precious metal, and then heated, e.g. to 500 ‹ C. to harden the base metal and bond it to the plating by diffusion. In examples, specified copper alloys containing silicon, nickel, manganese and combinations thereof are plated with gold and heated to the respective hardening temperature, which is in the range 325-600‹ C. The process may be applied to spectacle frames made from the appropriately profited wire, plated with gold, and heated at 500‹ C.
