Abstract

A polymer of at least 70% monovinyl aromatic hydrocarbon is stabilized with a methyl-t-amine <FORM:0934054/IV(a)/1> wherein R may be 2,3-dihydroxypropyl or hydroxyalkyl of 2 to 5 carbon atoms and R1 may be Me or R. The polymers may be derived from styrene, a -methyl styrene, vinyl toluene and mixtures thereof with each other or with vinyl esters, vinyl chloride, vinylidine chloride, acrylonitrile, or esters of acrylic, methacrylic or ethacrylic acids. The preferred amines are 3-dimethylamino-1,2-propanediol, dimethylaminoethanol, methyldiethanolamine and 1-dimethylamino-2-propanol. Pigments, dyes and lubricants, such as white oil, also may be present. The products find application as film, sheet, rods, bars, tubes and moulded articles.
