Abstract

934,044. Ladders. P. L. GAGNON. Nov. 30, 1959 [Dec. 1, 1958], No. 40650/59. Class 20 (2). A temporary rung 1 for replacing a missing rung of a metal ladder is provided with hanger arms 2, 3 by which it is supported from the next upper or lower rung 28. The arms 2, 3 are recessed at 17, 19 to engage over the rung 28 and are provided with clamping screws 22, 23. Extensions 4, 5 adjacent the rung 1 abut the stiles 26 and holes 6-9 are provided for the reception of securing screws 10-13. The rung 1 may be welded to the arms 2, 3 or screwed into holes therein to permit adjustment for different width ladders. In a modification, Fig. 10 (not shown), the screws 22, 23 are replaced by cams. In another construction, Fig. 5 (not shown) the arm 2 is clamped to a stile 31 by a bolt 33engagingaslotted extension 29 thereon and an L-section adaptor 32. In a modificatiou, Fig. 7 (not shown) for an L-section stile 35, a U-section adaptor 36 is employed and the adaptors are adjusted by a turn-buckle 39.
