Abstract
933,622. Insulators. KETTENWERKE SCHLIEPER G.m.b.H. Sept. 25, 1961 [Oct. 11, 1960], No. 34271/61. Class 36. A ring insulator having a core of annularlywound glass fibres bonded together by hardened synthetic material and having a covering of non-fibrous synthetic material which encloses the core, is manufactured by winding glass fibre strands 9 into a hollow former 5 through a slit 6 around its circumference. A polyester may be used to bond the fibres together and in this case the former is preferably of polystyrene or polyvinyl chloride. The arcuate parts of the insulator may be strengthened by thimbles of a synthetic material (Fig. 4, not shown), which preferably extend at least as far as the straight parts of the ring.
