Abstract

933,572. Divan and like bed bases. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Nov. 23, 1961 [Dec. 1, 1960], No. 41252/60. Classes 52 (2) and 52 (4). The peripheral frame of a foldable bed base forms a well in which an undivided resilient filling 14 is carried on flat perforated panels 14a. The two sections 11 and 12 of the frame fold over on link hinges 13 to sandwich the filling between them. A thin resilient cover sheet 19 is provided. The inner end of section 11 is supported on projecting plates attached to legs 16. All the legs are removable and may be carried on a stowage rail beneath section 12. In another form (Fig. 4, not shown), the panels are curved downwardly in the middle of the bed to provide a greater depth of resilient filling. The filling may be divided, at the hinge connection, into two separate parts or joined at the top surface by an integral bridge or a stuck-on canvas strip. Reference is made to a construction in which two pairs of legs are provided for each section. A number of alternative materials are suggested for various parts of the bed base.
