Abstract
931,988. Variable focal length systems. KAMERA-UND KINOWERKE DRESDEN VEB. Feb. 25, 1960, No. 6651/60. Class 97 (1). A variable focal length system comprises an objective 6 to the rear of a diaphragm 5 and in front of the diaphragm an afocal system which consists of a positive front lens member 1 and a rear positive doublet 4 and axially-movable therebetween a negative simple lens 2 and a two component negative member 3. The focal length of the front member 1, which comprises a front negative lens, a positive achromatic doublet, a simple positive lens, and a simple positive meniscus concave to the rear, is less than the back focal length thereof. The front member 1 is normally fixed, but is displaceable for focusing objects at different distances. During such displacement, the separation between the front negative lens and the achromatic doublet is also altered by one-third of the displacement of the front member as a whole. Optical data are given in the Specification for one example of the afocal system and for one example of the objective 6 which may, as shown in Fig. 5, be a fourcomponent system, the rear component being a triplet.
