Abstract

931,261. Skid rails for metal heating furnaces. KLOCKNER-WERKE A.G. Sept. 29, 1961 Oct. 1, 1960], No. 35411/61. Class 51 (2). A furnace skid rail comprises a ceramic core 1 and a heat-resistant metal casing 2. The rails shown have polygonal cross-sections so that when one sliding surface is worn the rail can be turned and another surface used. Fig. 2 shows an octagonal section rail with a cruciform section core, the passages 5 being used for the passage of cooling air, and the surfaces supported by the core being used as sliding surfaces. Fig. 5a shows a rail built up of sections, the joints between the steel casing sections 2a, 2b, 2c being chevron shaped, see Fig. 5b (not shown), with their apexes pointing against the direction of travel of the material being treated. A metal tube 5<SP>1</SP> is provided in a central bore used for cooling purposes.
