A resistor includes an insulating base and a resistive layer consisting of a mixture of oxides, of which tin oxide and titanium oxide are the main constituents, the titanium oxide being present in the range 1% to 20% by weight of the total oxides in the layer. The resistive layer may also include one or more of the oxides of aluminium, iron, manganese, magnesium, bismuth, antimony, and boron, present in total weight less than that of the titanium oxide.
