Abstract

1,193,734. Coated materials. TRW Inc. 28 Feb., 1967, No 19898/68. Divided out of 1, 193, 301. Headings B2E and B2K. [Also in Divisions B5 and C3] Reinforcing materials such as silica cloth and carbon cloth are impregnated with a composition comprising 1,2-polybutadiene diol having more than 50% by weight of 1,2-units, a polyfunctional organic iso-cyanate capable of reacting therewith, and a peroxide free radical initiator. The diol reacts with the isocyanate to form a polyurethane having the peroxide dispensed throughout. On further heating adjacent vinyl groups cyclize and the mass cross-links. The two reactions may occur simultaneously. The same composition may be used to coat titanium and aluminium metal.
