Abstract
Polymers are recovered from organic solvent solutions of hydrocarbon polymers by vaporization of the bulk of the solvent in aqueous dispersion by flowing the polymer solution in cocurrent with hot water through an upright tube, and recovering the polymer at the opposite end of the tube. The solution may have been treated previously to decompose and remove catalyst residues. The tube may be of a U-shape. The solution may be introduced into a stream of hot water through nozzle-like openings. The catalyst residues are generally of the "Ziegler-type". The polymer may be a homopolymer of butadiene, isoprene, butylene, or a copolymer of ethylene-butylene, or propylene-butylene.
