Abstract
929,888. Air-break switches; contact members for switches. ELEKTROTECHNICKE ZAVODY JULIA FUCIKA NARODNI PODNIK. April 22, 1960 [April 22, 1959], No. 14239/60. Class 38 (5). In a disconnecting switch having a pair of contact blades 7 pivoted on a fixed contact member 5 and co-operating with a further fixed contact member 5, contact pressure is produced on completion of the closing movement by means of a screw mechanism actuated by the operating mechanism of the switch. To open the switch shown, the operating shaft 3 is turned and initially through linkage 4 turns a lever 12 until it abuts stops 16 fixed to the blades 7. This movement of the lever 12 turns a bolt 9 which has right-hand and lefthand threads at its ends engaging nuts 10, 11 fixed to clamping members 8. Thus the initial movement releases the contact pressure applied by the members 8 and the subsequent movement of the lever 12 abutting the stops 16 opens the switch. As the pivotal opening movement of the blades commences, a lever 13 is moved by a spring 15 until it abuts stops 14 on the blades 7 and locks the lever 12 to the blades 7. This enables the subsequent returning of the blades 7 to the closed position before the lever 12 is free to turn the bolt 9 to apply pressure through the members 8.
