[Also in Group XIII] A liquid cooling installation in which air and liquid flow in contact with each other and in counterflow relationship comprises a series of plates 1 having horizontal slots 3 which are spaced vertically by at least twice their width. The slots are diagonally stepped and each plate has a serrated lower edge 4. The plates are mounted in position by means of shoulders 2 and spacers 9, and perforated bars 5 are inserted horizontally through the aligned slots. The bars and plates are formed of asbestos cement or synthetic plastic material, e.g. phenol-formaldehyde resin.
