Abstract

929,139. Splitting-machines. MASCHINENFABRIK TURNER A.G. Jan. 8, 1962 [March 9, 1961], No. 719/62. Class 31(1). A band-knife splitting machine is provided with an hydraulic feeler system for controlling the adjustment of a gauge roller relatively to the band knife and hence the thickness of split. As shown, a gauge roller 3 is carried by a head 6 which is mounted on plates 7 so as to be pivotable a pre-selected amount by a feeler unit F comprising a spring-influenced piston 14 and a pin 15. Operating cylinders 11 are pivotally secured to side uprights 9 and the piston-rods 13 are pivotally secured to the plates 7. The suction side Z of the cylinders 11 is connected through conduit 28 to a conduit P connected to the delivery side of a pump. The inflow and outflow of oil from the compression side D of the cylinders 11 is controlled by the edges A, B of piston 14. The feeler unit is connected by conduit 29 to the pump and has a discharge conduit R to an oil tank serving the pump. The feeler unit is operable by an adjusting device V arranged on an upright 9, the device V comprising a screwed spindle 17 movable in a threaded piston 19 by means of a hand wheel 18, the piston being movable in a housing 20 by means of a manually-operable slide valve 25.
