Abstract

928,960. Measuring electrically. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. March 1, 1961 [March 1, 1960], No. 7563/61. Class 40 (1). In a thermo-electric device for measuring the temperature of a moving strip, rollers 2, 3, and 4, are arranged in contact with the strip 1, roller 3 being of a material generating a high thermal E.M.F. with the material of the strip whilst rollers 2 and 4 are of material which generates a low thermal E.M.F. with the material of the strip. The rollers are connected into a bridge circuit with voltmeter 5 connected across a diagonal between roller 3 and the junction of the resistances formed by wires connected between roller 2 and junction 6 and roller 4 and junction 6, the other two arms of the bridge being formed by the resistances between roller 3 and the rollers 2 and 4 via the strip. The arrangement is said to eliminate errors due to extraneous current flow along the length of the strip 1.
