Abstract
928,193. Fluorescent discharge lamps. R. SUGIYAMA, and K. KIDO. Dec. 5, 1960, No. 41813/60. Class 39 (1). [Also in Group XXIII] A fluorescent discharge lamp comprises centrally disposed supporting means surrounded by an annular discharge space 1, Fig. 1. The electrode terminals 16, 17, Fig. 4, are disposed on opposite sides of a wall 14 which connects the central opening 12 with the outer periphery of the lamp, so that the discharge path circumscribes the central opening. A fluorescent coating is provided on the inner bottom surface of the lamp. As shown, the lamp is supported by a member 5 which contains a starting switch and is screw-threaded for insertion into a lamp socket. The upper and lower walls of the lamp may be grooved, Fig. 3 (not shown), and may be secured together by a low melting-point glass comprising by weight 5-15% SiO 2 , 6-12% B 2 O 3 , 60-80% PbO and 5-15% Na 2 O, or by high-frequency resistance welding.
