Abstract

A ceramic zirconium silicate stain is prepared by calcining at 950 DEG C. a mixture of zirconia, silica, sodium fluoride or other alkali metal halide and manganese dioxide and/or bismuth trioxide. The mixture contains 0,25-5% of manganese, or 1-20% of bismuth, or 0,25-5% of manganese and 0,5-10% of bismuth, all percentages being based on the weight of zirconia. All constituents other than the zirconia are ground to give a uniform mix which is then mixed with the zirconia. The zirconia and silica are present in approximately equimolar proportions.ALSO:A ceramic zirconium silicate stain is prepared by calcining at 950 DEG C. a mixture of zirconia, silica, sodium fluoride or other alkali metal halide and manganese dioxide and/or bismuth trioxide.
