Abstract

926,730. Bulkhead doors. J. STONE & CO. (PROPELLERS) Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961 [Nov. 14, 1960], No. 39027/60. Class 113. In a watertight bulkhead door arrangement the door sill 9 is let into an aperture 7 in the deck plating so that its upper surface is level with the upper surface of the deck. The sill 9 comprises a ridge portion 8 having flanges 9a and 9b which are joined in a watertight manner to the deck. The aperture 7 extends across the width of the opening 1 and beyond for a distance substantially equal to the width of the door. The portion 8 may have a recess 16 which may receive and guide the bottom 14 of the sliding door 15 in a manner which causes the door to converge on to the opening 1 when being closed and vice versa. The door may move on rollers 15a on the margin of the recess 16, which recess may have a groove 19.
