Abstract

926,702. Positive clutches. TATRA, NARODNI PODNIK. May 3, 1960 [May 6, 1959], No. 15624/60. Class 80 (2). A friction synchronized positive clutch comprises clutch pins 16, 21 carried by a member 1 fast with the driven shaft 2, which pins are moved axially into engagement with holes 18 in a rotatably mounted gear 26 or 27, having coned friction surfaces 13, by pins 7 fast with an axially slidable shift sleeve 6, initial movement of which acts through resilient segments 10 to move a balk ring 12, having a slot 14 with cam sided balking notches which coact with mating faces of the pin 7, into frictional engagement with the clutch surfaces 13 whereupon frictional drag turns the ring 12 to balk further movement of the sleeve 6 and pin 7. On synchronism further movement of the pins 7 moves the clutch pins 16 towards the gear 26 or 27 and points thereon detect and align the holes 18 with the clutch pins 16 which then move into full engagement with the holes and also act through guide members 20, 29 interconnected by a member 33 to move flat ended clutch pins 21 into engagement with the holes. During disengagement the clutch pins are positioned centrally by spring-pressed rollers 24 between the guides 20, 29 which engage a notch 23 in the member 1.
