Abstract

1453277 Positive clutches LANCIA & C FABBRICA AUTOMOBILI TORINO SpA 13 Feb 1975 [7 March 1974] 6176/75 Heading F2C In a baulk-ring synchronized positive clutch for a change speed gear wherein an internally toothed clutch sleeve 13 is axially slidable on a hub 2b into engagement with clutch teeth 24 carried by gears 27a, 27b and coned friction synchronizing rings 16 have limited circumferential movement relative to the hub 2b and are engageable with coned surfaces 22 fast with the gears 27a, 27b, initial axial movement of the clutch sleeve 13 is transmitted to the synchronizing rings 16 by rollers 12 housed in recesses 7 in the hub 2b and urged by springs 9 into engagement with a groove 15 in the sleeve 13. The coned surfaces 22 and clutch teeth 24 are formed on rings 23 splined at 25 to the gears 27a, 27b. During clutch engagement frictional drag between the coned surfaces rotates the synchronizing ring 16 relative to the hub 2b so that teeth 24 thereon baulk further movement of the clutch sleeve 13 until synchronism is attained.
