Abstract

1279937 Positive clutches ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AG 14 Dec 1970 [31 Dec 1969] 59333/70 Heading F2C A balk ring synchronizing device for a change speed gear-box wherein the gears concerned always rotate in the same direction has spring rings attached to the hub and to the synchronizing rings which tend to hold the rings in the balking position. A hub 7 has a shift sleeve 9 slidable into the tooth system of rings 11, 12 having conical faces 13, 14 corresponding to faces 15, 16 of coupling elements 5, 6. Spring rings 24 support the rings 11, 12 and are secured as by hooked ends 25, 26 between the hub 7 and recesses 22, 23 in the rings so as to tend to hold the rings in a balking position. The rings may be installed under tension. When the speeds are synchronized the sleeve 9 can rotate the appropriate ring back into an unbalked position so that coupling can be effected.
