[Also in Group XXIV] A pump supplying liquid under pressure to the control system of variable ratio expanding- wheel gearing (see Group XXIV) comprises a cam 73, Fig. 2, reciprocating a piston 74 against the biass of a spring 76 to draw liquid from a sump through a one-way spring-closed ball-valve 77a, the liquid being pumped through a spring-closed pressure control ballvalve 82 to a high pressure outlet 84 and through a duct 86, Fig. 1, to a second, series arranged, pressure control ball-valve 87 and a medium pressure outlet 91, some of the liquid passing through the first two pressure control valves, being transmitted through a duct 92 to a third spring-closed pressure control valve 93 and a low pressure outlet 97.
