[Also in Groups XXIV, XXXV and XXXVIII] A display system, in which a drum 11 rotated by pawls mounted on the plunger core of an electromagnetic step-by-step mechanism (see Group XXXV), drives a belt 28 of letters or figures, has brushes 30 mounted on an insulating plate 29 to make contact, through recesses in the side of the belt, with contacts 46 to form a stencil switch. The contacts 46 are formed on insulating plate 43 by wrapping conducting metal around parts of the plate left between openings 47. Alternatively, feelers of strip metal completing circuits by their change of position in entering the recesses or contacting studs on the belt may be used (Figs. 13, 14, not shown).
