Abstract

925,871. Delivering sheets. OZALID CO. Ltd., and J. G. B. HALDEN. Aug. 26, 1959 [Aug. 26, 1958], No. 27293/58. Class 100 (1). Sheet receivers.-A delivery conveyer 2 of a printing, photocopying or like machine terminates adjacent to an end wall 1 of the machine for delivering sheets into a tray 3. The tray 3, which may be of sheet metal, has an upwardly convex base and side walls 6, 7, a strip 9 being attached to the edge 10 of the tray adjacent to the end of the conveyer 2. The tray is hinged to the wall 1 at 8 and is adjustably supported by a pair of stays 12 each of which is pivoted at opposite ends to brackets 11, 13 on the tray 3 and wall 1 respectively. Each stay 12 consists of two members 14, 15 in telescoping relation with each other, the combined length of which can be adjusted by means of a screw 16 engaging a slot 17 in the member 15. When sheets 18 having little or no rigidity are to be delivered from the conveyer 2 the stays 12 are adjusted to their maximum length so as to raise the end of the tray 3 remote from the conveyer to its greatest height. As the sheet emerges from the conveyer it droops and the leading edge engages the base of the tray 3 at a position where the base is rising away from the wall 1. The leading edge of the sheet then slides back until it reaches the edge 10 of the tray, the sheet being progressively inverted as it is fed from the conveyer. When comparatively rigid sheets are to be delivered the stays 12 are adjusted to their shortest length so that the base of the tray over substantially the whole of its length is inclined downwards away from the wall 1. The leading edge of a rigid sheet delivered to the tray in this position engages the base of the tray at a position where it slopes downwards away from the wall 1, and slides forwards until it engages the wall 7 of the tray.
