Abstract

925,478. Crankshafts. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. June 30, 1961, No. 23740/61. Class 80 (2). In an internal-combustion engine crank-shaft having a counterweight 5 fastened on a crank web 4 by cylindrical headed hexagonal socketed bolts 6 disposed parallel to the direction of centrifugal force, the counterweight bears against the crank web on a flat face 7 perpendicular to the bolt axes and is located transversely relative to the crank web solely by the bolt heads 10 in their mating bores 11. The machining tolerances are selected such that the smallest difference between diameters a and b of each bolt head and its mating bore is equal to the greatest difference between the bore hole spacing e in the counterweight and the bolt spacing f in the crank web, also, the smallest difference in diameter between each bolt shank transition c and an adjacent countersink d of the bore hole 12 is greater than the greatest difference between the diameters a and b.
