925,232. Setting out warning lines on curved roads. SECRETARY OF STATE FOR SCOTLAND. Oct. 16, 1959 [Oct. 16, 1958], No. 33017/58. Class 97 (2). In determining where warning lines should be marked on a road to indicate lack of sufficient visibility, two trucks are positioned at a fixed distance apart on the road, depending upon the normal speed of vehicles using the road, and by means of mirrors on the rear truck a target on the front truck is observed, the two trucks then being moved at constant speed along the road and positions are determined where the image of the target disappears from the field of view of the mirrors, or is displaced sufficiently therein, and also where it is restored to its initial position. The two trucks are identical and each comprises a body 2 having a support 4 carrying a circular target 11 and three pivotally mounted mirrors 15, 18, 21. The forwardly directed mirror 15 and rearwardly directed one 18 of the rear truck are so adjusted initially that an image of the target 11 on the front truck is observed at a position behind the rear truck. The mirror 21 is to enable vehicles or other objects at the rear to be observed at the position behind the truck. The target 11 consists of two semicircular parts hinged together. The distance of travel of each truck is indicated by a pointer moving over a dial and driven from one of the road wheels by a flexible transmission 23.
