Abstract
A dry pigment preparation contains a pigment with particle size of less than 35 U in diameter and a phosphoric acid ester with melting point above 45 DEG C. The specified pigments are linpara-N,N1-quinacridone, chlorinated copper phthalocyanine, copper phthalocyanine and carbon black. Specified esters are triphenyl phosphate, mono-, di-and tri-p-chloro-triphenyl phosphate, tri-p-tertiary-butyl-phenyl phosphate, tri-p-cresyl phosphate, tri-o-hydroxy-diphenyl phosphate and dicyclohexylphosphate. The preparation may be made by mixing or kneading the ester in the molten or dissolved state with the pigment and after cooling or evaporation of solvent, grinding the material. The preparations may be used to dye polyvinylchloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene and cellulose acetrate.ALSO:Plastics are dyed with a dry pigment preparation comprising a pigment with particle size of less than 35m in diameter and a phosphoric acid ester having a melting point above 45 DEG C. The plastics specified are polyvinylchloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene and cellulose acetate. The esters specified are the phosphates of triphenyl, mono-, di- and tri-p-chloro-triphenyl, tri-p-tertiary-butyl-phenyl, tri-p-cresyl, tri-o-hydroxy-diphenyl, and dicyclohexyl. The examples disclose the dyeing of polyethylene with tri-para-N,N1-quinacridone and triphenyl phosphate (1) and copper phthalocyanine and dicyclohexyl phosphate (3); cellulose acetate with chlorinated copper phthalocyanine and tri-pi-cresyl phosphate (2); polyvinylchloride with carbon black and tri-p-tertiary butylphenyl phosphate (4); and plasticized polyvinylchloride with chlorinated copper phthalocyanine and tri-o-hydroxydiphenyl phosphate (5).
