924,504. A.C. generators ; automatic voltage control systems. ELECTROTECHNISCHE INDUSTRIE VOORHEEN WILLEM SMIT & CO. N.V. Nov. 18, 1959 [July 17, 1959], No. 39156/59. Classes 35 and 38 (4). In a mono- or poly-phase A.C. generator 10, Fig. 1, having an exciting winding 11 excited by two parallel D.C. sources of which the first consists of a rectifier circuit 14 fed from at least one A.C. circuit in which alternating voltages proportional to the generator current and voltage are so operative that the direct current has a component substantially compensating the armature reaction of the generator whereas the second D.C. source is controlled by a voltage which is a measure of the deviation of the generator voltage from a predetermined value, such second source comprises a second rectifier circuit 41 fed from at least one A.C. circuit in which are operative further alternating voltages proportional to the generator current and voltage, and in series with the D.C. output of the circuit 41 an electric correction device 40, the voltage of which is controlled by the control voltage. As shown, the rectifier circuits 14, 41 are 3-phase bridges fed by two similar but differently dimensioned supply devices 15, 42 each comprising three single-phase current transformers 25 . . . 27 and 43 and voltage transformers 34 . . . 36 and 44, or alternatively corresponding 3-phase transformers. The correction device 40 shown in Fig. 2 comprises a rectifier bridge 48 supplied via a transformer 49 and a transductor 52 from conductors 45 . . . 47 connected to the generator output, the transductor being controlled by windings 55, 56 and a Zener diode 57 supplied by a 3-phase rectifier bridge 59. In other embodiments, not shown, of the device 40, the transducer is replaced by a resistance bridge of which the diode forms one branch and across which bridge is connected a transistor.
