Abstract

924,133. Ventilators. HILLS (WEST BROMWICH) Ltd. May 14, 1959 [Feb. 14, 1958], No. 4916/58. Class 137. A roof-ventilator comprises a hollow box-like base 1 which is installed on the ridge of a roof 14 and carries an open-topped cowling 5 fitted with a fixed baffle 18 and a pair of pivoted baffles 19, the baffles 19 being movable from an open position where they lie parallel to the fixed baffle and a closed position where their edges abut the edges of the fixed baffle and the base 1. The whole structure is made of sheet metal with reinforcing straps 15, 17, which overlap the sheet-edges. Bridge-members 11 extend across the base at intervals. The upper edges of the baffles 19 are attached by springs 25 to a fixed point and their lower edges are connected to a common operating chain 31. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), the pivoted baffles are movable by toggle links. Specification 924,132 is referred to.
