Abstract

922,564. Transformers. FERRANTI Ltd. Nov. 15, 1961 [Dec. 8, 1960], No. 42214/60. Class 38 (2). A method of manufacturing an oil-filled transformer in which each complete winding 2, 3, 4 is assembled in an enclosure formed of members 1, 22, 6 where it is processed, then immersed in oil and sealed, the assembly subsequently being mounted on the appropriate leg of the core in the transformer tank and the tank filled with oil to a level above the top of the windings before establishing interflow between the oil in the enclosure and the oil in the tank, the enclosure member 22 then being removed from the assembly. Interflow is established by means of the special valves 12 in the bottom insulator slab 6. The spaces between insulating tubes 5 form channels for cooling oil flow.
