922,157. Hydraulic pit-props. PARSONS CHAIN CO. Ltd. May 15, 1959 [Feb. 17, 1958], No. 5158/58. Class 20 (2). [Also in Group XXIX] An hydraulic pit-prop or strut for incorporation in the undercarriage of an aircraft comprises a tube 2 which is telescopically mounted in an outer tube 1 and provided with an hydraulically - actuated brake device 4, an upper ram 3 and an adapter 9. The unit 4 consists of an annular rubber bag 15 which acts on arcuate brake shoes 18 and is supplied with pressure fluid through an inlet 27, the adapter 9 and a length of annealed copper tubing 24 having a helical portion 25. The inlets 27, 28 of the members 4, 3, respectively, are supplied in parallel from a common pump through a circuit incorporating suitable check and control valves for details of which Fig. 3 (not shown) and Specification 744,899 should be referred to.
