Abstract
A method of heat treating sintered aluminium material to avoid the formation of cracks on further heating comprises heating the material in a vacuum. The material which may be an aluminium-aluminium oxide containing not more than 20% aluminium oxide may be placed in a vacuum furnace, the furnace evacuated to a pressure below 10-1 mm. mercury, heated to 300 DEG to 660 DEG C. for a time of 100 to 1 hours and allowed to cool in the vacuum.
