Abstract

921,113. Clothes airers; folding underframes. J. C. SMITH. Oct. 30, 1961 [Nov. 21, 1960], No. 39977/60. Classes 52 (3) and 52 (5). A folding rack for airing garments comprises a pair of hingedly interconnected frames 10, 11 having a plurality of spaced rails 12 and being hingedly connected, as at 20, 21, to support legs 14, 15, the arrangement being such that the folded frames are disposed side by side and substantially parallel and the extended frames are supported on the legs and are held by releasable means in overlapping and substantially 180 degrees relationship. The inner portion of the narrower frame 10 is accommodated within the wider frame 11 and is provided with brackets 16 each defining a slot 17 which accommodates a rail 18 fixed to the frame 11, the rail 18 and the brackets 16 thus providing a hinged connection. The rail 18 is movable in the slot 17 thereby to facilitate engagement of hooks 19 on the frame 10 with a rail 12 in the frame 11. The bracket 18 and hook 19 may be integral. The pairs of legs 14, 15 are hingedly connected at 22 by plates 23, 24 and pins 25.
