Abstract

A fungicidal composition comprises at least one known fungicidal agent and at least one 2,3-dimercapto-1,4-quinoxazoline, optionally substituted in the benzene nucleus by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, carboxylic acid or sulphonic acid groups or a cationic salt thereof. Specified known fungicidal agents are N-trichloromethyl thio-tetrahydro-phthalimide, zinc ethylene-bisdithiocarbamate, zinc - dimethyl - dithiocarbamate, tetramethyl - thiuram - disulphide, 1-chloro - 2,4 - dinitronaphthalene or pentachlorophenol. Specified salts of the 2,3-dimercaptoquinoxazolines are those formed with alkali metals e.g. sodium, ammonia, zinc, ferric iron, tin, manganese, nickel, mercury and primary, secondary or tertiary amines e.g. dimethylamine, ethylamine, butylamine, hexylamine, dihexylamine, dodecylamine, stearylamine and methylstearylamine and preferably amines containing aliphatic radicals of at least 8 carbon atoms. The compositions may contain diluents, e.g. clay, emulsifiers e.g. nonyl phenol-polyglycolether, adhesives, wetting agents and known bactericides or insecticides and may be formulated as dusts or sprays.
