Abstract
920,779. Combined sound and picture apparatus; programmed electric control systems. AGFA A.G. Sept. 22, 1959 [Sept. 26, 1958], No. 32296/59. Classes 38 (6) and 40 (2). In an arrangement of two or more optical projectors at least one of which is a still projector working in co-operation, a tape which may be a magnetic record has impressed thereon a plurality of conductive patches whereby control apparatus responsive to the passage of a patch may selectively control the projectors, for example in time with recorded material. The projectors may be still picture projectors in which slide changes may be effected by the control apparatus. Relays 30, 31, Fig. 3, are operated by the respective impulses resulting from the connection of contacts 32, 33 and 33, 34, by conductive patches 36, 37, respectively, relay 30 controlling the slide-changing motor 49 of projector 3, and relay 31 controlling motor 42 and projection lamp 41. Switches 23, 24, provide for overriding manual control. An alternative circuit arrangement for two still projectors is described with reference to Fig. 4 (not shown) and two arrangements for controlling three projectors with three and two patch responsive relays respectively, are described with reference to Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown). The use of patches extending right across the tape to short-circuit three contacts simultaneously and to short-circuit the outer contacts are described with reference to Fig. 9 (not shown). Outer contacts 59, 61 of a three-element contact member, Fig. 7, are extended to provide a guide for the tape.
