Abstract

920,030. Constructional toys. LINES BROS. Ltd. Aug. 15, 1961 [Aug. 24, 1960], No. 29263/60. Class 132(3). A toy building kit comprises girders of a substantially rigid material, each end of a girder being of square cross-section and having a socket, and junction pieces, each of which consists of a cube of substantially the same external cross-section as the ends of the girders and a spigot on each face of the cube and is made from a relatively easily deformable and resilient plastic material, the spigots and sockets having cross-sections which differ slightly so that they make interference fits. The girders 1 have a socket 4 at each end and are connected by junction pieces 2 having a central cube 7 of the same area of cross-section as the girder and with outwardly-extending tapered spigots 8 which extend from each face and which snapfit in the sockets of the girders and holes 11 in a base 10. The sockets have the inner corners rounded and the inner edge of the mouth may also have more rounded corners. Wall and window panels 14, 15 have projections 16 which fit in slots 12 in the base and a top flange 17 which fits behind a cross girder connecting two upright girders. The top of each panel has slots 18 to receive the projections 16 of the panel above it. Roofing and flooring panels 19 and corner members to mask the exposed junction pieces and girders may be provided.
