Abstract

919,849. Knitting machines. MORAT G.m.b.H., FRANZ. June 15, 1959 [June 24, 1958], No. 20425/59. Class 74 (2). Pegs 4 and 3 which move pivoted cam 2 to tucking and knitting positions II and III respectively, and a peg 5 which causes its return to inactive position I, are each formed with a shoulder 9 under which a spring-urged catch 11 snaps, when the peg is raised, to hold it lifted against the action of a return spring 8; and, the catch 11 being common to all three pegs, any peg already in raised position will be released as the catch 11 is forced outwardly by the shoulder of a rising peg and will be returned by its spring 8 to the lowered position. Peg 5 does not make contact with the cam 2 but, when it is lifted, causes the release of whichever of the other two pegs is in raised position. The pegs are lifted by a cam 22 acting through a follower 12 which is positioned under any peg to be lifted by axial displacement of a pin 13 which is carried at one end of a rod 17 and on which the follower is pivoted. The rod 17 is displaced from a position in which the follower is not under any peg, and against the action of a spring 18, by a cam 19 on a pin 20 rotated by Bowden cables operated from the knitting machine control or pattern mechanism. Alter. natively, the follower 12 may be positioned by electromagnetic means. The rod 17 may also be rotated.
