Abstract

1,253,588. Knitting-machines. E. MAYER [trading as MAYER & CIE]. 21 Aug., 1969 [7 Sept., 1968], No. 41658/69. Heading D1C. [Also in Division H1] A pattern mechanism for a circular machine comprises a bank of pivoted selectors 34 influenced by electromagnetic devices 10. The armatures 251 pivot intermediate members 37 which in turn slide rods 40, to each of which a selector 34 is pivoted. The selectors are thereby turned anti-clockwise. A further pivoted member 42 also pivoted by the rod anticlockwise engages in front of a fixed post 43 to prevent movement of the selector as the jack butts strike it. The electromagnetic device (see also Division H1) comprises an armature (25, Fig. 1, not shown) movable in the fields of permanent magnets (15, 16 and 17, 18) separated by a variable electromagnetic field. Cones (26, 27) on the armature co-operate with conical recesses at both ends of the electromagnet core, and ensure the air gap is the same in either end position of the armature.
