Abstract

919,596. Thermal regenerators. VEREINIGTE ECONOMISER-WERKE G.m.b.H. Dec. 18, 1961, No. 45275/61. Class 64 (1). In a regenerative heat-exchanger comprising an endless belt 1 which passes successively through ducts for heat-emitting and absorbing media, deflecting members 6 and 7 are provided, respectively within and externally of the belt to deflect the said media in a zig-zag fashion through the belt. The latter is constructed of heat-carrying elements, e.g. helical springs or box-like units containing thin-walled metal elements, and is guided by rollers 2 through the said ducts and through apertures 3 in a partition dividing the ducts, sealing means (not shown) being provided. In Fig. 2 (not shown) four guiding wheels are employed, two on each side of the partition and in Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the deflecting members are so shaped that the two media are further deflected into and away from the plane of the belt. The heatexchanging media may be flue-gas R and air L as indicated in counterflow in Fig. 1.
