919,568. Steam superheaters. SULZER FRERES S.A. Oct. 4, 1960 [Oct. 6, 1959], No. 34038/60. Class 123 (3). [Also in Groups XXII and XXVIII] The interior of a tubular superheater manifold 1 conveying fluid subjected to large temperature changes and sensitive to such temperature changes is protected by means of a tubular lining 7 or 8 attached to the manifold by means of a welding ring 11 or 13 located on the inner side of an annular weld seam 12 or 14 of the manifold. The manifold consists of a tube 2 closed at one end by a cap 3 welded to the tube and protected by a disc 9 welded in the lining 7. Pipe stubs 4 welded to the tube 2 are protected by the linings 8 protruding in the interior of the lining 7 through holes 41. The welding rings, each made of two halves are welded to the weld seams and engage annular grooves in the outer periphery of the linings. The rings may be welded to the lining. The groove 10<SP>1</SP> at the upper end of the manifold is made wider than the ring 11<SP>1</SP> to allow for expansion of the lining 7. The parts 2, 3, 4 and the rings are of austenitic steel and the linings may be of scaleresistant ferritic material.
