410,196. Pipe joints. MANNESMANN ROHREN-WERKE, 1B, Berger Ufer, D³sseldorf, Germany. Nov. 7, 1932, No. 12781/34. Convention date, Aug. 27, 1932. Divided on 410,120. [Class 99 (i).] In a welded joint for lined pipes the lining is protected from the heat of the welding operation by heat insulating material. In a butt joint the two parts of a sleeve c are secured to the pipes a and are welded together at f, the weld and the joint of the linings b being separated by a space d filled with insulating material. A packing ring g may be inserted between the ends of the pipe and linings, or the linings may abut and be heated and smoothed over to form a joint. Fig. 4 shows a lap joint welded at i, a space o for insulating material being formed by a sleeve n having a lining q which is joined to the pipe linings r by packing rings p.
