Abstract
919,332. Lever load-handling devices on vehicles. POWELL, S. J. Nov. 12, 1959 [Aug. 21, 1958], No. 26852/58. Classes 78 (3) and 78 (4). An arm 15 (Fig. 2) carrying a cradle 19 for receiving a hay bale is hinged at 16 to a trailer and is raised and lowered by a rope 8 passing over pulleys 9, 6 on a pillar 2 to a pulling device beneath the deck of trailer. The pulling device may be a winch or, alternatively, may comprise a fixed pulley 12 (Fig. 3), an anchorage 14, and a pulley 13 moved by a push-bar 10 connected to an hydraulic jack or other device supplied with power either from means on the trailer or from its tractor. The pillar 2 may be mounted at its lower end on a wheel axle 3 of the trailer or on a boss mounted on the wheel 4, and is held upright by a bracket 5.
