Abstract

A hypodermic syringe ampoule is made of laminated synthetic plastic material comprising at least two layers bonded by an adhesive present in the amount of 3 to 20 g/m2, one layer or two layers together having a permeability to gases less than 5.0 mg/24h. m2. mm. cm. Hg. and preferably less than 1.0 mg/24 h. m2. mm. cm. Hg., and a permeability to water vapour less than 400 mg/24 h. m2. mm. cm. Hg. and preferably less than 100 mg/24 h. m2. mm. cm. Hg., and another layer having a modulus of elasticity of 10.103-75.103 kg/cm.2 preferably in the range 35.103-45.103 kg/cm.2, the thickness of the other layer being sufficient to give the ampoule an aspirating force of 0.1-0.2 kg/cm.2. When the laminated material comprises more than two layers, the outer layers may be of the same material to facilitate securing joining edges by heat sealing. If the laminated material comprises three or more layers, one of the layers may be extruded in molten form or as a solution on to the other layers. Materials providing a suitable aspirating force are non-plasticized polyvinyl chloride, polytrifluormonochloroethylene, polyethyleneterephthalate, polyamide-6,6 and polyvinyl fluoride. Materials providing the desired water vapour permeability are polyethylene, polypropylene, rubber hydrochloride, polytrifluormonochloroethylene and polyvinylidenechloride. Materials providing the desired gas permeability are polyethyleneterephthalate, polycarbonate, polyamide - 6,6, polytrifluormonochloroethylene, polyvinylidenechloride and non-plasticized polyvinylchloride. Suitable adhesives are butyl rubber, nitryl rubber, chlorinated polyethylene and polyisobutylene.
