Abstract

1384941 Environment-affecting package CELANESE CORP 12 April 1972 [15 April 1971] 16780/72 Heading A5G [Also in Division F4] A dehydrating agent or an insecticide is enclosed by a normally waterproof porous plastics film to form a package, the plastics film being a polymer (e.g. polypropylene or polyethylene) having a crystallinity above 20%, of 100 to 12,000 Angstrom units, a nitrogen of 100 to 12,00 Angstrom units, a nitrogen flux of 5 to 400, an elastic recovery at 50% extension of more than 40%, and a total surface area per unit volume of 5 to 100 square metres per cc. The film is made by the process of Specification 1287504 or 1287505 or 1143474 or 1180066 or 1198695. Superimposed - layers of film may be sealed together to enclose the substance directly, or to form a pouch which is then filled and sealed. The film may be cross-laminated or reinforced with a large-pore sheet as in Specification 1339207. Examples are described in detail in which the plastics was hot-extruded, drawn down, stretched, annealed, stretched and heat set; packages formed from this film were filled with phosphorus pentoxide or paradichlorobenzene.
