Abstract

PURPOSE: An oxygen absorber that is made by packing an oxygen absorbing agent in a packaging material which partly permeates oxygen but does not permeate moisture or water is placed in a tightly sealable vessel together with pickles to prevent the decomposition of vitamins and pigments in the pickles and the generation of fungi and others.
CONSTITUTION: An oxygen aborbent is packed tightly with a packaging material which partly permeates oxygen but does not pass through moisture or water to prepare oxygen absorbers. The resulting oxygen absorber is placed in a tightly sealable vessel together with pickles and they are tightly sealed. The oxygen absorbent used is, e.g., hydrosulfite or metal dusts and moisture-impermeating material is polyethylene or film consisting of polyethylene and nonwoven fabric. For example, oxygen absorber 1 is put in a flexible and water and gas-impermeating bag 2 together with pickles 3. Or the oxygen absorber 1 is placed in a solid vessel 5 made of glass or plastic together with pickles 3.
